Android AU
Setting: Modern/mildly futuristic
Summary: Arian is an apprentice/intern working for an institute specializing in android research and development. Eren is a defective military android unit brought to the facility in hopes of repurposing him (because these things are hella expensive, gotta use him somehow even if he’s unfit for battle), and he’s still at this point more or less a blank slate since military units aren’t given any socialization software. While still physically able, there seems to be a bug in Eren’s programing or hardware that makes him hesitant or unable to attack live targets. His weapons are removed (as well as any ammunition), and his strength is hampered to match that of a normal android and surrounding humans.
At Arian’s facility however, they’ve been working on an AI program and figure Eren is a prime guinea pig, with no tricky software to uninstall like service units would. And Arian ends up getting saddled with him despite still only being an intern; he’s got sufficient knowledge of androids, but hasn’t been in the industry long enough to have any prejudices or preconceptions. So he gets to socialize and train Eren like some service units go through - but much, much more comprehensive. Eren appears emotionless at first, but very quickly begins to exhibit signs of curiosity, which is never seen in androids.
Essentially, the AI program works. Eren gains a “ghost”, slowly becoming self aware and developing a personality all his own, in addition to dreams and desires. Arian has to cover some of them up though, as the question soon arises just how much freedom is too much to consider a danger to humans; it doesn’t take long for Eren to access his own code internally and remove the restrictions on his strength. Eventually, he becomes indistinguishable from a human, considering androids at default have little to no electronic parts exposed.
Go wild with the silly android headcanons here:
Eren ends up using the empty storage compartments on his body that once housed weapons/ammo for silly things, like hiding animals or snacks for Arian. He can heat or cool his entire body for Arian when they snuggle in the winter or summer. Maybe he has a compartment lid or spring that’s temperamental and can pop open when he’s surprised or nervous. His eyes have various “screens” to indicate things like battery power (even tho I would guess he can be both sun and wind powered in addition to auxiliary) and even arousal percentage (HUEHEU)
Obviously at some point they’re able to do a “pleasure” upgrade so Eren can experience ~sex~. But for a good while before that, Eren would do it with Arian and be sufficiently happy with it just because he knows Arian feels good. Little shit starts ordering and modding his own “attachments” without Arian’s permission.
